They elected to travel to Atlanta to form their own business, The Vagabond Marionettes, with Mitchell Edmonds, with whom he had previously worked at Nicolo. Vince’s goal was to establish a puppetry center that would become a significant part of the community. Vincent Anthony, a young Florida puppeteer, began touring with the Nicolo Marionettes in New York City under the guidance of Nicholas Coppola. The center was founded by Vincent Anthony, who had a passion for puppetry and wanted to share it with others. The ceremonial ribbon was cut by Kermit the Frog and his creator, Jim Henson. On September 23, 1978, the Center for Puppetry Arts opened its doors to the public.
